I played the game Dr. Signal’s Strange Machine. I was completely surprised by the gameplay and even the meaning of the game as usually in games there’s an objective, however, this one was more philosophical than anything else. The game is based on a post-apocalyptic world where a scientist leads a team in an artificial space, trying to form a sustainable life and leading them to a possible solution to save the planet. It was eye-opening how deep it was and its comments on humanity and greed. The game was also extremely detailed and tied all characters together to form a narrative that was based on the human attribute of never being satisfied with what we have.
I played the game Roomba Quest for the second game. The game was based on a Roomba, a cleaning device, that gains more and more information as it moves through the dirt only to find that it can upload its conscience on the internet to become a being. The game required the Roomba to go back and forth over ‘hard’ stains which was humorous as an actual Roomba does that too. The Roomba game was interesting as I was thinking of my own Roomba and the kind of dirt it goes through on a daily basis. The game takes you through several tasks to get to the uploading. I found it interesting that both games had such philosophical takes on them.
